A solid four star dining experience. The food was quite good: crab cakes, fried rice balls, cabbage salad, chicken with mushroom, penna alla vodka, scallops, and more. Except for two food items, everything was delicious and a good-sized portion. The wait staff was good too. They went out of their way to treat the kids in our group, bringing some mashed potatoes out quickly and getting some maraschino cherries as a treat. The scallops and halibut were $30, but they were quite well received. In general, the prices seemed fine, but the food was more pleasing than wow-inducing. E.g., my penne alla vodka had a tasty but unremarkable vodka sauce with sizable chunks of crab and some crispy veggies...it was quite satisfying and enjoyable, but not something I felt compelled to share so others could experience it. The two food items that didn't fit were the complimentary bread, and the bread pudding I got for dessert. The complimentary bread is soft, no crust, small holes, no flavor, and it's served with butter. Seriously? No olive oil? The bread pudding was not special, very bready, but with a pretty strong flavor of berries. Amazing bread pudding is creamy without being soupy, and with hints of cinnamon and/or nutmeg. This was more like eating wet chunks of bread with a berry glaze. Reservations are recommended, but we snagged an early same-day reservation on Saturday.

Food was ok, but the staff was friendly. I would suggest going a little before 5pm as it was really crowded when I went around 5:30pm On Saturday.

Ate here with my wife, son, and daughter-in-law while visiting Hot Springs. Outside doesn't look like much, but first impression when walking in was how amazingly friendly everyone was. We were greeted very warmly by several employees (hard to say if any were the owner). The waitress took plenty of time to explain the menu and food options to us, and then brought some wonderful fresh baked bread. I had the Pasta Fortuna, and it was delicious. My son and daughter-in-law had the spaghetti and meatballs, and they loved the tender meatballs. My wife had the penne alla vodka and thought it very tasty. She liked the combination of crab and pasta. Would definitely return on our next trip to Hot Springs.

My husband and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner here. The atmosphere was romantic and the food was top notch.

My husband and I were visiting from out of town for our anniversary. We looked at reviews of nice restaurants and selected this one for our anniversary meal. It was great! Our meals were both fantastic and the owner came around to each table to see how things were. We loved the small town atmosphere with the sophisticated city menu. We will definitely go back the next time we visit!

We tried to go to the nearby J & S Italian Villa which had extensive fire damage.... At first couldn't find this place because it's address is listed incorrectly. It behind a bank in a strip mall but the food is much nicer than typical strip mall. We started with a salad (it was large enough for two) and the Arancini. Both great. Also a martini (regular style -- 8/10) and a glass of wine. We also ate the agnolotti and chicken on a bed of polenta. Both yum! Husband complained of too much salt. Our server was nice but quiet and we liked the atmosphere overall. The hostess gave us a skeptical look when we came in with our seven year old and decided to "move us to a different section of the restaurant that would work better for you" which happened to be right next to the bathroom and hallway. I hope that she will become more understanding of families because not all kids are rowdy and I didn't appreciate being seated in that crummy place when the rest of the restaurant was completely empty. Also the bread was great.

This restaurant is by far the best of all Hot Springs restaurants. You never know what to expect when you visit a restaurant in Hot Springs. There are so many highly rated restaurants that never meet they hype. Luna Bella does not follow that category. This restaurant Exceeds any expectations we had or that we read. We were greeted at the door with the small town friendliness you would expect but also with a hint of elegance. We had reservations and were escorted immediately to our table in the corner of the back room. We were seated for about 3 minutes when we were greeted professionally by a young man named Nicholas. I ordered a glass of crown on the rocks and my partner, not knowing what she wanted was asked a series of questions and then a suggestion of a Belini was made by our server. The drinks were delivered in a timely manner and the Belini was perfect for her tastes and could compete with New York City mixologists in flavor and garnishing. We also had the chocolate covered strawberry martini that tasted identical to its name. It was awesome, a very dangerous drink! We ordered two appetizers, the crab cakes and the Arancini (fried risotto balls with prosciutto and stuffed with fontina cheese) and listened to the specials presentation. Nicholas professionally described the specials and left us drooling and now changing out our minds from our first glance of the menu. Nicholas kept an eye on us but kept a distance to not disturb our conversation. The food from the grilled peach and fresh cherry salad with a peach balsamic dressing to the Chilean sea bass cooked with the perfect amount of crisp and a choice of two sauces. Since everything is made to order, Nicholas suggested I choose whatever sauce I wanted if I didn't want the listed sauce. I told him my tastes and told him to have the chef choose. He nailed it. Twice! We will be back for sure. Maybe tonight!

Traveling through Hot Springs, this seemed a reasonable choice... our mistake. Atmosphere has some bizarre spot lighting and neon. The meal started with bread that was inedible and went downhill from there. The lobster and crab bisque had a fishy taste, the halibut had the texture of mush (frozen, unfrozen, refrozen, then unfrozen?), veal was mediocre... all of this for outlandish prices. The only thing good to say about the meal was the host and waitress were both very friendly.

Wow! Just ate here for the first time. Just wow! The Avacado Shrimp Fetticinni was outstanding! Service was great!

Made a reservation for a Saturday night to celebrate Hubbie's birthday on the recommendation of the Innkeepers where we were staying. Location is odd - it's behind a gas station in a little strip shopping center. Nothing remarkable about the building at all. The place was packed and a little noisy. All seating is tables (no booths) and all the windows are blacked out so it feels a bit warehouse-y inside. I ordered the arancini appetizer (flash fried risotto balls with fontina cheese inside and a creamy tomato sauce outside) and it was outstanding! Less awesome was my entree, the pasta fortuna. Hubbie enjoyed his caesar salad, escargot appetizer, and veal scalloppini. Service was slightly on the slow side, understandable based on how busy they were, and not overly friendly. Might go again on our next visit to Hot Springs, but more likely will check out other restaurants.

We "splurged" one night during our vacation in Hot Springs and dined at Luna Bella. It's off Central Ave, south of downtown Hot Springs. We'd pass by the sign for the restaurant every day when leaving or returning to our resort on Lake Hamilton. Don't trust your GPS, though, because it led us astray! It's tucked away in a small strip mall/plaza behind another building. Upon entering the busy establishment, we were immediately greeted by the owner. He was extremely friendly and shook our hands to welcome us. In fact, everyone there was super friendly and provided excellent service. The interior is pretty dark and intimate. We were seated by the one streetlight in there and I wished that the whole inside was filled with these streetlights to make you feel like you're dining al fresco on an Italian evening. To try something unique that I hadn't had before, I ordered the Avocado Shrimp Fettuccini. I had never had avocado in a pasta dish before. I love avocado, and while it was good, I don't think I'd order avocado with pasta again. I kind of wished I had ordered something else, but I'm glad I tried it. The red wine I ordered was delicious and filled pretty high for a glass of wine (thanks!). We had a great time and I'd recommend Luna Bella for a nice, quiet, Italian experience in Hot Springs.

Funny thing was the owner took my reservation himself on the Fourth of July. I didn't know it was him, but he was great about holding our table. When we got there he greeted us and told us we could leave our truck there later and go watch the fireworks. Anyway, the food was outstanding and so was the staff. This is a must for every trip to the area.

Came here for our one year anniversary. I had probably the best meal of my life! When we walked in the place was full and we had to wait about ten to fifteen minutes. Didn't really matter because the waiters asked us if we wanted drinks while we waited and checked in on us frequently updating us. I had the Chilean sea bass and it was phenomenal, my husband had something with veal, can't remember what since it was a few weeks ago. His was pretty great as well. We also shared a creme brûlée the custard was still a little cold, but it tasted great! We also had a couple specialty drinks. Can't remember what they were either, but both were great! Definitely coming back to Hot Springs someday and this will be on our list again!

Requires a reservation so make sure you plan ahead. Our waitress Linda was rather curt and evasive. She seemed more concerned with "wealthier" tables. We ordered 3 filet mignons and Branzino. My steak was well done, i ordered medium rare. After everyone had eaten, my food finally came out. It was amazing. Melt in your mouth good. While the rest of my party was outside smoking, i was eating alone. Our bill was 220.00. Kinda pricy. Needs more lighting, hard to read the menu. Wish it had been a better experience for the money.

I had dinner here with friends during a quick trip to Hot Springs. From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated to an awesome dinner with great food and hospitality! First the service: The manager/owner greeted us as we entered. We were quickly welcomed and seated. During the meal, he came by a couple of times to check on us. Our server was also great! She answered any questions we had, and was just generally pleasant! It was obvious that the staff enjoyed working there and that can make all the difference! Now the food: Delicious! All four of us were pleased with our orders. We all had left overs to take as well. You definitely get your money's worth here! When I think "Hot Springs" great Italian doesn't really come to mind, but Luna Bella changed that for me! I will definitely be back!

Another wonderful dinner at this jewel! Service, food, drinks, ambiance and hospitality are phenomenal! We kicked off our New Years eve here with the best martini's ever! Then appetized with arancini (risotto ball with melted cheese, prosciutto in a red cream sauce). Shrimp bisque was fabulous! Endive salad that knocks your socks off and seafood canaloni that had sea bass, shrimp and scallop in grand mariner...yum!! Coconut canolis for desert! You owe it to your spouse and yourself (and friends) to dine at this...the BEST restaurant in Hot Springs...cheers!!

We had another excellent meal last night at Luna Bella. After appetizers of shrimp cocktail and crab cakes, we decided on the pan seared scallops, asparagus and rice. We were not disappointed. My wife had a dirty martini and I had the lemon drop martini. Both were outstanding. The owner greeted us and escorted us to our table, and came by twice during dinner to inquire about our food. The server, Haley, was also excellent.

Umm, no. We walk in and get "greeted" by the most pretentious, crotchety woman ever. We did not have reservations, the website does not specify you need them, nor do they specify a dresscode. The hostess did not like the way we looked, so we were sat in a back corner and forgotten. Our waitress really was nice, but incredibly forgetful. We did not get our food for over an hour. I do not mind waiting this long for food if it's worth the wait; HOWEVER, this food I would have been annoyed waiting 15 minutes for. My boyfriend's pasta Fortuna had a weird sauce, and my chicken fettuccine ran rampant with fatty chicken and bland sauce, so it left us wanting. I would not go back here for the mediocre, over-priced food.

Excellent food and service. The reservation system is unique; you call and leave a message as to the date and time you would like your reservation. If they can accommodate you. they call back. We arrived early and waited at the bar. The bartender was knowledgable about the wine inventory and recommended a mid priced wine that was excellent. The owner approached us and was very friendly and certainly involved in his restaurant. We were then seated and had wonderful service from Linda. The meal was comparable with other good Italian restaurants and we were very pleased with our meal. I recommend a visit, we might try to go again.

We read yelp reviews and went there last night for dinner, it was a very romantic setting. I really liked all the art work choices, put together nicely. The bread offered was too soft for my taste I like my bread toasted and crunchy, but it was fine. We started off with salads we got the strawberry feta and the Caesar. We told our waitress we wanted to split them both to try and she brought it out presplit onto different plates so we didn't have to share a plate, which was really nice and convenient. My husband ordered rack of lamb he said he enjoyed them... You really can't go wrong with lamb. I ordered the penne alla vodka, it was decent. I wanted a little more taste to the vodka sauce but at least it wasn't tangy like jar sauce. If I wasn't comparing it to some amazing penne alla vodka I had in New York then yes I would have been very pleased. It was a fancy Italian American restaurant and it was glad that it was not a disappointment since it's so expensive. We didn't regret out choice at all. Maybe someday if we come back to hot springs we will even go back to Luna Bella!

My best friend brought me here while visiting her for my birthday. One of the best Italian restaurants I've been to. We ordered the arancini, eggplant Parmesan, and chicken Luna Bella. First the appetizer, the arancini was amazing! Basically deep fried risotto balls stuffed w fontina, glazed in delicious tomato based sauce, made to perfection. It was soooo good that we basically filled up on that. The eggplant was crispy and full of flavor. We really appreciated that it didn't get soggy like most when based in the sauce. The angel hair pasta was nothing special. The chicken was moist and flavorful. It was as tho the chicken melted in our mouths. The mash potatoes were buttery and smooth. One thing we wished for was the tiramisu. Apparently, it's not on the menu every night.

Food was great, freshly prepared, and beautifully plated. Calamari was fabulous, fresh with tomatoes, garlic, & herbs. We both had chicken dishes that were delicious. Received very warm greetings from owners that made us feel very welcome & at home. Would highly recommend!! We will be back!

Elegant atmosphere that is perfect for a date. The mural of the moon rising over an island in the main dinning room sets the perfect mood. The Food at Luna Bella is very good as well as the staff. Luna Bella has good selection of wines to complement your meal. I did not try the desserts as I was stuffed from dinner. My own complaint would be the bread I had with the meal, it was ... terrible. I love good bread and this is the only reason I did not give 5 stars. If you're in the Hot Springs area and are looking to either impress your significant other or want good Italian food, drop on by. Be prepared to spend between $16-$28/plate.

My only negatives have nothing to do with the food. People that gather here are having a wonderful time but for some reason all of that sound is amplified rather than absorbed. I had trouble hearing the server tell about the specials. And the lighting, although romantic I suppose is so dark that it is difficult at best to read the menu. Not that it makes much difference. Everything is wonderful. Watch for the specials, especial fish. Typically to die for. The desserts change regularly but last time we were there we has a bread pudding. We are New Orleans regulars, with one daughter that lives there, but many in NOLA could take lessons from the chef on the bead pudding. It wasn't traditional, it had a fresh fruit compote of a sort on top. Commander's Palace watch out, this may be the best. This is a "not to be missed" place to eat, not just in Hot Springs but central Arkansas. Noise and all, don't miss this delightful place. Carry a small flashlight (the server didn't offer one) and your "readers" perhaps to overcome the darkness. Ownership is personable and will make you feel welcome. Have a wonderful evening and decide for yourself if the negatives are simply minor inconveniences given that the food is the best !

Went here the other night with a couple of friends. Walking in the first thing I noticed that the ambiance was very nice and we were greeted by the hosted right away and also greeted by another gentleman who I assumed was the manager. Very nice people. We were seated promptly and were introduced to our waitress. What a sweet girl and right on top of things! Amazing service! As for the food and drink; to start, they brought out some bread with olive oil and a balsamic vinegar mix that was all amazing. My dad and his girlfriend ordered some wine and I ordered a gin martini. They loved the wine, but as for my martini I was shocked that a place that says they do a martini well didn't do it so well. I asked for a gin martini that was stirred, not shaken and received a martini that was obviously shaken, watered down, with pieces of ice floating on the top...sorry, I'm a martini snob. My friends really enjoyed their dinner, but I ordered the salmon with crab and a Cajun cream sauce and it was not that good. In fact, it tasted like the fish had been frozen and wasn't fresh and it was just smothered in the Cajun sauce which tasted like mayonnaise with a bit of Cajun spice. I'm sorry, but this dish was not very good, and when did Italian start adding Cajun spices to their food. In fact, I only ate a bit of it and will remember to stick to my rule of only eat ocean fish if you're near the ocean. All in all the service was great, the ambiance was good, and my friends enjoyed their dinner. I would of given it a 3 star, but I have to go by my food experience when it comes down to it. I mean that is the main reason I'm paying to be there right?

It was ok. I wasn't super impressed. Took my wife to Hot Springs for her birthday weekend getaway. So here's my thing: if you're going to write the names of the dishes in Italian, your servers should know how to pronounce the dishes CORRECTLY! I lived in Italy and speak Italian, so if I see an Italian word, I say it the way it is SUPPOSED to be said. Everything I ordered, the waitress would try to "correct" me. However, she clearly has no concept of the proper pronunciation of Italian. She said the words how a typical Arkansan without any travel experience or education would say the words, and she felt like she should repeat what I said incorrectly. That bugs the hell out of me. In fact, her pronunciation was so bad that we had a hard time communicating. I'm sure she is a perfectly nice lady, but to the owners: TRAIN YOUR STAFF! DIO MAIALE!!! So we had our meal and our wine. Bread was good. Meal was average. Not stellar. Not terrible. Then came time for dessert. My wife was wanting Tiramisu badly. I made the mistake of assuming that a seemingly decent Italian restaurant served Tiramisu regularly. Nope. Wrong. They change their desserts daily, which is fine. However, I would think that they would keep a couple desserts as standard fare on the menu every day (e.g. Tiramisu, Cannoli, etc). Nope. They had key lime pie and a few other random dishes, but no traditional Italian desserts. So overall, food was not amazing, service was annoying, there were loud drunk people at the bar (which is right in the middle of the dining room), and my wife did not get her Tiramisu.

U can't come to the Spa City and not have Luna Bella on your spots to eat. Cindy and Dick create an atmosphere that is great. Ray makes cocktail that are the best. Janie is the best wait person in Ar. Fish specials are always good. Salads great. They take care of the customer.

Owners met us at the door and were very friendly. Our waitress was professional and helpful. We came with small children on vacation, and the entire staff was welcoming and accommodating to their needs. We brought our own wine with only a small corkage fee. We had a great experience and will definitely come back on our next trip to Hot Springs.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
